For archaeologists, maintaining records of data and other information for future retrieval, and making these available to others is an enormous challenge. Many initiatives across Europe are pursing the use of digital technology for recording and sharing archaeological data, and although patchy and concentrated mainly in northern Europe, these efforts are gaining momentum, according to Julian Richards, Director of the UK’s Archaeological Data Service, in an article for the September 2012 issue of Centre for the Study of Architecture Newsletter.
