Arcadian Landscapes is a must for everyone, including organizations, owners, managers and students involved in the heritage sector and the development of cultural tourism. The congress is the spotlight project for the country houses and landed estates in 2018 for the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
International exchange of heritage knowledge
At the centre of this two-day conference is the challenge to enhance the significance and future value of this European heritage, to increase the public reach, to share knowledge and to make a connection with the new heritage policy. To be able to organise this it is essential to have good cooperation between education, government, entrepreneurs and organisations. But how can we achieve this? What opportunities do we have to open up our heritage, to keep the narratives alive for young and old and to provide a meaningful perspective of the future?
Keynotespeakers Tom Williamson, professor at the University of East Anglia, Heike Düselder, director of the Lünenburg Museum and professor by special appointment at the University of Osnabrück, Hans Renes, professor Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Hanneke Ronnes, extraordinary professor of Historic Estates at the University of Groningen, give their view on the area-oriented approach to country houses and landed estates. International professionals, students and other interested parties, will be exchanging, during various interactive sessions, their knowledge and experience about the social significance of cultural heritage in relation to the surrounding landscape. Also excursions to the historic Estate Oranjewoud, landscape park of Oranjestein and Museum Belvédère are part of the program.
Tickets can be ordered from today via arcadianlandscapes.com. The ticket price is € 250, – including lunch on both days, a joint dinner on Thursday evening and the excursion on Friday afternoon. For students, there is a special rate of € 150,-.
