We have just published our statement on the proposal for the new EU Culture Programme called ‘Creative Europe’. In our statement, we underline the core values of funding for the arts and culture in Europe that we stand for. To us, it is extremely important that the new programme recognises the social values of arts and culture and the ways it contributes to human development. We also find it crucial that the new programme dares to take risks and allows for artists and cultural operators to experiment.
We urgently need your help to make sure that the statement gets put in the hands of all Ministers of Culture and Members of the European Parliament by as many campaign supporters as possible. Download our statement straight away and help us show that civil society cares!
Apart from helping us advocate for changes in the ‘Creative Europe’ proposal, we also encourage you to engage with some of the interesting and ongoing debates on the urgent need for dialogue between culture and European politics or the “Decalogue for Europe of Culture” that was recently signed by 22 EU Ministers of Culture.
2012 is a key decision-making year during which the EU budget 2014-2020 will be decided. EU support to culture over the next seven years is at stake and the negotiations over the first four months of the year will be crucial to the final result.
It is therefore more important than ever that we make our voices heard and address EU politicians and policy-makers across Europe with clear demands.
